Michael Douglas to Play Hank Pym in Marvel’s ANT-MAN

Marvel is taking a big gamble on a largely unknown property with a weird premise and strange set of characters with this August’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but they also have a less widely known property on tap for 2015 by way of the incredibly promising Ant-Man. We learned last month that Paul Rudd will lead writer/director Edgar Wright’s comic book adaptation, but the question that lingered on everyone’s mind was which Ant-Man Rudd would be playing. In the comics there have been a few people that have donned the Ant-Man suit, most notably creator Hank Pym and then later a thief named Scott Lang.

When Wright recently teased Scott Lang with an image posted on Twitter, we were directed to an old interview with the filmmaker in which he talked about using both Hank Pym and Scott Lang in his Ant-Man film. Well that’s exactly what he’s going to do, as Marvel has just announced that Michael Douglas will be playing Hank Pym in the feature.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had this to say about the decision:

With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves,” said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. “We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life

Professor X just keeps firing X-Men.

Comedian Pete Holmes has a series of vignettes that he airs on his self titled show where he appears as Professor X and keeps firing “useless” members from his team. It’s fun to watch as he keeps going down the list and pokes a little fun at comic books.

Robocop 2014 – Trailers

Normally I’m not a huge fan of reboots. It seems there are way too many of them being produced in Hollywood nowadays. A large majority of them seem unnecessary and don’t seem to bring anything new to the established story, but on occasion there are some that seem to have new ideas on how to expand the current mythos of a character. From some of the early trailers of the new Robocoop movie, that definitely appears to be the case.

Starting off with assembling a stellar cast of Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Abbie Cornish and Miguel Ferrer (who was in the original Robocop) and now releasing some incredible looking trailers has me very excited for where this franchise could be headed.

Due to be released February 12, 2014(hope the wife doesn’t mind spending Valentine’s Day at the movies).

Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror XXIV Opening By Guillermo del Toro

Halloween is my favorite holiday for so many reasons. One of the small things I have enjoyed for a number of years has been the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode. This year’s opening was created by famed director Guillermo del Toro. So many cool things going on that I’m going to have go through it a few times to catch everything.

Scarlett Johansson Talks Timeline of Captain America: The Winter Soldier

the-avengers-black-widow-hd-wallpapers

In an interview with refinery29, Scarlett Johansson gives some details about the upcoming sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

You have the Captain America sequel coming, too, right?
“Yes. This film is in real time. It’s been two years since [the characters] appeared, and now both are agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fighting in the streets. We are not superheroes flying side by side. They help each other because we are fighting in a similar way. It’s a working relationship.”

How far will your friendship go?
“By a series of unfortunate encounters, they will be in a situation in which their friendship becomes more intimate. They share many similarities because they live on the defensive without relying on anyone. Also, the two have been working for the government throughout their professional careers. With their friendship they begin to question what they want and what is their true identity.”

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will debut April 4, 2014. The film stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Sebastian Stan.
